 Great News For Over Yonder

The Heavens Declare The Glory of God And The Earth Showeth His Handiwork.Psalm 19:1

GREAT NEWS

In countries such as Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Nothern Ghana, Christianity (through World Bible School, WBS)  is being taught in public highschools!

This is great news.  They are begging for the Bible to be taught in their schools, and they are getting it.  Some of these are Muslim schools and they enroll thousands to study the Bible.

On a somber note:  How our country needs to go back to this.  Ours used to be a different kind of nation.  They DID use the Bible in our schools during colonial times.  We need desperately to get back to that.

Some day, some so called 'Third World Country' is going to feel compelled to come over to America and 'missionary' us.  What a sad thing to comtemplate...but it's so easy to see it coming to that!  I hope our nation wakes up in time to see the error of our ways.

 Divorce and its Ravaging Ways

I was ironing a dress the other day and for every little wrinkle that I ironed out...about 5 more were ironed in!!  I thought it was just me and a bad day to iron, but then I realized it was the material.  It was just not good dress material.

You know...marriage is like that. Some people are just not good marriage material.

People though, unlike that dress material, can change. If you are planning to marry, make sure you are good marriage material and make sure the one you are marrying is also. If you find otherwise, postpone that wedding until you grow up, because divorce destroys homes, not just a relationship between two people.

I heard a sermon the other day (from one of my favorite people and my very favorite preacher)  that compared a home to a garden. A home is where God intended for a family to be nurtured and in which little children grow up. Those little plants need tender care and attention to grow up as God intended.

He said: "What if you had a beautiful garden and some one  came across it with a bulldozer, and just plowed it up and crushed it down!"  Divorce does that to homes and families. No wonder God said in Malachi that He hates divorce.

If you are contemplating divorce in your life, please think again. Do everything possible to keep this from happening. Forgive, if that is necessary. Don't let pride keep you from asking for forgiveness if you are at fault. Especially if you have children, don't let this 'bulldozer' come rampaging across your family.

A family broken by natural sickness and death is left in better shape than one broken by divorce. My brother, sister and I were raised in this kind of home situation and I can tell you that as bad as death is, it is much kinder than a divorce in the home.

Malachi 2: 10-16 is very interesting.  God tells why He instituted marriage: Because He was seeking Godly offspring.

He is talking to Judah and telling them some of the mistakes they have made as His chosen nation and as individuals:

Have we not all one Father ? Did not one God create us? Why do we profane the covenant of our fathers by breaking faith with one another?

Judah has broken faith. A detestable thing has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem: Judah has desecrated the sanctuary the LORD loves, by marrying the daughter of a foreign god. As for the man who does this, whoever he may be, may the LORD cut him off from the tents of Jacob —even though he brings offerings to the LORD Almighty.

Another thing you do: You flood the LORD's altar with tears. You weep and wail because he no longer pays attention to your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands.

You ask, "Why?" It is because the LORD is acting as the witness between you and the wife of your youth, because you have broken faith with her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.

Has not the LORD made them one? In flesh and spirit they are his. And why one? Because he was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth.

"I hate divorce," says the LORD God of Israel, "and I hate a man's covering himself with violence as well as with his garment," says the LORD Almighty. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith.

 Prayer

A thin kind of veil over the clouds...so beautiful and unique!

Our God is awesome! Sometimes He uses someone else working behind the scenes, when He provides an answer to our prayers and they may not even know they were an instrument in it! This happened in Bible times a lot.

Wonder how many prayers there have been, where we unknowingly, have been one of His instruments? An absolute awesome wonder!

On the other hand...wonder how many times He wanted to use us as an instrument and we were not available for Him!

 Proverbs 22:6

Interpreting Proverbs 22:6

"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."  Proverbs 22:6

Many people say this means: "that when they are old, they will come back to it...after they have sowed their wild oats."

This may occasionally happen...(Thank God) but that is not what it says!

Many people also say: "that if you teach this, you are teaching that he 'cannot' depart from it." That is not what it says either!

  And is that true anyway?

Parents who take obeying God seriously take it for just what it says and they had rather have a 'will not' than a 'can not' from their children any day! Read the verse again...and again and again.

 Our Age

When those of us who were born in the 30's,40's and even the 50's, were growing up, the world was not nearly as sordid  and evil as it is now.  There was enough evil to tempt us...but not enough to make us 'SICK'  like it is today!!!

I'm just talking about kids who were and are.... being raised in a reasonably moral home...not some of the hovels some kids are in today. Those have two strikes against them to begin with and I really feel for them!

So...are the kids growing up  today in a position to better avoid the evil...or is it as tempting or even more so, to some of them as it was to us?  Are they more fortunate to be young today or were we more fortunate in our time of growing up?

What about Noah's sons?  Noah's family was the only righteous family in the whole world.  How hard it must have been for them, yet they all remained righteous. They could tell us a thing or two about peer pressure!

Genesis 6: 5-12

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.
And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
